St. Augustine here we come!

Today we left the beach house, and headed up to St. Augustine. I loved the house in Ft. Myers Beach, the serenity of it was amazing. Defintely will be making a trip back to Fort Myers Beach! Maybe an anniversary trip :)

Check out time was 10 am, so we were up and at it pretty early. We wanted to stop and visit Granny before we headed out to. We got to her place around 10:30ish. She was happy to see us. We chatted up about the wedding. Its so nice to hear the nice comments everyone is saying about the wedding. Joe called while we were there, and unfortunately was tied up so said his goodbye over the phone. Joe is a sweetheart. Im glad Granny has him. :)

We had to fix a few minor scrapes and bruises with Sgt Pepper before we hit the road. Just had to replace a fuse, and fill him up with gas. We worked our way across the state of Florida and I watched out for alligators. I havent seen one, and while I think I want to see one maybe I really dont. LOL We went through a park above the everglades so thought I might see one. No luck, didnt see any. Once we got over to the Atlantic side of the state, I pulled out the mini atlas and helped find our way to a highway along the ocean. Melissa can read a map, see I am a smart cookie :) We drove along the ocean through a few cities. The Atlantic ocean is so different than the Gulf. Ive only been near the ocean during a small trip to Tampa a few years ago, so its been exciting to visit the ocean. The Atlantic side is defintely more rough. Big waves. But Grant assured me nothing like the waves in California. Maybe Ill have to check that out for myself ;) We found a beach and a little restaurant along the beach right around Delray Beach, so decided to grab some lunch. It was really windy but the restaurant had wind protector things up. We watched the surfers and some swimmers trying to get out there on inner tubes. It was enteratining, and waves Id rather see from the beach rather than experience. LOL

We really would of liked to drive along the water to St. Augustine. That may have took us a few days though. The speed limit is 30. So we got back on the motorway, and started our hike up through Florida. 6 long hours. Ugh. This was the first time driving on this trip that I could not wait to get out of the car!
