Family Day on Sanibel/Captiva

Today we checked out of the Pink Shell and went back to the beach house for the night. Kelly, Tony, and Anthony were in town for one more night so we spent the day with them. We did cash in on our free breakfast buffet at the pink shell before we left. I cant get enough of the fresh fruit down here! We also went and walked the pier on our way back to teh house. We saw a ton of birds on the pier. Fort Myers Beach is known for bird watching, and I can defintely see why! We hung out at the pier and watched the pelican for a bit before heading to the house. I could watch the pelicans all day. Love them!

We met Kelly, Tony, and Anthony back at the house and all drove over to Sanibel. Sanibel Island is where Grant and I orginally wanted to get married. It was interesting to see all the places we researched online and how different they looked in person. Sanibel was a lot bigger than I imagined, and things were much further apart than I thought to. We drove all the way out to Captiva first. THe houses were amazing out there! We stopped at a pricey Starbucks for Grant and Kelly. They were both pretty excited about that one! LOL And than we parked at the beach nearby. The boys all went for a swim, and Kelly and I lounged on the beach. We ended up going for a walk down the beach and I got soaked. LOL When we got back Grant buried himself in the sand. When Anthony stood next to him they were the same size, it was pretty funny. We all piled back in the car and headed over to drove the rest of Sanibel Island. We werent so lucky in finding a beach on Sanbiel, well we couldnt find any public parking, so we just drove and enjoyed the scenery. We ended up stopping at a souviner store, Sally Sells Shells. Grant and I found these cute bride and groom figures made out of shells, so we bought them of course :)

We grabbed dinner back by the house at Charleys steakhouse. I wasnt impressed but everyone else seemed to be. LOL I had a Key Lime martini that tasted like medicine. My steak was overdone to much for my liking as well to. Grant overstuffed himself with all you can eat ribs, prime rib, and baby back ribs. Stuff like you wouldnt believe. Where does he put it all? After dinner we went over and to check out the sand sculptures. Some were started...and were pretty cool. We guessed what they were going to be and we think one was Michael Jackson. We couldnt get to close those there was a security guard patrolling the area. Although Im sure Anthony could of taking him, he looked like he was 13. LOL

Now we are working on the dreaded packing. We defintely have more than what we came with so this should be interesting. Time to use our creative packing skills!
