errands that is! Today was a super productive day for us. Although doing errands while on vacation isnt that much fun. In case you were wondering ;)
So we got up early since the caterer was meeting us at the house at 10am. The owner, Mike, and the woman Ive been working with, Cathy, showed up. They were soooo nice! Felt so at ease with them. I have heard such great things about them so excited to work with them. We hashed out all the details from ceremony to reception.
After that visit we head to Publix to talk to the bakery about the cake. I was a little unsure about the design when talking to the bakery over the phone, and when I saw what she was talking about I was glad we went in. I did not like the cake design at all. The one we did like was going to cost us double what we originally wanted to spend. And we would have been paying a lot for shells that werent edible, which seemed like such a waste. So the bakery came up with a nice cost effective solution. A 8 inch cassata cake for Grant and I, and than 30 cupcakes to surround it. The cupcakes would have edible shells on top to. We also have key lime pie desert so it worked out great!
Next up was the marriage license. We were unsure on how busy that would be with it being a Monday, but we were surprised with a how fast we got in and out. We had to fill out our info in a computer, than meet with a clerk who signed the marriage license. She was telling us we were the 4th couple that was in that day to get married in Fort Myers. Guess everyone loves the beach! When we were finding out way back to the car we saw this awesome baynon tree. The tree was really cool, so I had to do a photo op of course :)
We had a fiasco with the power surge in the mini, so had to go back to the house because our GPS was going to die. So we headed back to the house to regroup. We worked on the liquor order while at the house. Grant and I rarely drink liquor so this was quite the task. Good ol' Google did not let us down though :) We went to this place recommended by my friend Suz, Total Wine and More. Its a little overwhelming how much liquor is in there! Anything you possibly could want and more. In the end Im sure we got way to much liquor, but stuck to our budget on it so all is good.
Since we were out that way, we called the sound system company to see if we could come pick up the speakers. It was ready so it was nice to kill two birds with one stone, especially since its quite a drive out from the island to the city. Not that far, but can get annoying after doing the trip 5 times. The sound system kit was really nice. It will work perfect for what we need it for. Now getting the sound system and the liquor order all in the car was quite the task! Wish I got a picture of that one :)
After all that we were pretty whooped. So we headed back to the house to unload the mini, and unwind. We than were able to meet up with Marie and Erik again. We headed over to their condo at the Gullwing. Awesome place! The four of us wandered around Ft. Myers Beach looking for some place to get a drink and some food....and ended up at the same place we were the night before. 3 nights now, does that make us regulars? LOL It seriously is the only place open after 8. We enjoyed a couple pitchers of Blue Moon, some food, and watched the Phillies beat the Yankees. WOOHOO!
Busy day, dont ya think?
