Today we went down memory lane through Grants eyes. It was fun to see the excitement through him while he relived part of his childhood.
We started off the day with a visit to the cemetery. Grants mom, grandpa, and great grandparents are all buried at the same cemetery. Unfortunately we didnt check to see if anyone would be working in the office on Sundays, so we had no idea we would have to search the entire place for the plots by ourselves. Not to bad though...we found Grant's moms plot after about 15 minutes. We were surprised to find that Grants stepdad was next to her. He passed in January 2008. Grant has lost contact with him so hasnt spoken to him in many years. This may sound silly, but Grants mom had gerber daisies on her grave. Gerber daisies are my favorite flower, so it made me feel some sort of connection to her. I wish she was here to see her son get married, and how great of a man he turned out to be. Im sure she already knows though. I also am sure that my dad and her will have the best seats in the house on Wednesday :) After visiting Grants moms grave, we than found Grants grandpa and great grandparents. They were a lot easier because they were in the wall type thing at the cemetery.
After the cemetery we headed to the neighborhood Grant grew up in. I saw both houses he lived in with his mom, and also his grandparents house. His grandpa actually built the house his grandparents lived in. Very nice! When Grant lived down in these areas they were dirt roads with no houses, and now the area is so populated. Its so interesting when you go back to an area and see how much its changed. The frosty freeze was still there and in business to. It was an ice cream place in the shape of a an ice cream. I bet that was a hot spot to be when he was growing up :) We stopped for lunch at a wing place he use to go to with his mom, Buffalo Chips. We had their famous wings, and buffalo chips. Yum!
I really enjoyed the tour of Grants childhood :)
