Today was a great day with Emerson!
When we arrived at the hospital we were surprised to see that Emerson was off of his IV! I really hated seeing his little hands and arms bruised from the IV's. This was great news to start the day with! :)
We were really hands on with Emerson today. We fed him at his 5pm, 8pm, and 11pm feedings. I changed his diaper before every feeding. Who would of thought how excited I would get to change a diaper! Lets see how excited I am in a few months, right? LOL
Loretta come up for a visit today :) She brought the cutest and softest Teddy Bear for Emerson! Grant rubbed a small part of the Teddy Bear on Emerson's skin and he made the cutest facial expression! So nice of Loretta to visit!
In between baths, the nurses sponge bath Emerson. So Angela let me do that on my own tonight. Washed his face, behind the ears, and all the areas that have little folds - under arms, knees, butt, etc. After I was done washing him up, Grant and I got him dressed. This was a first for us! I was nervous with is tiny arms and legs, but Grant dove right in and did awesome! Love watching him as a dad <3
Angela also showed me how change his pulse cuff on his foot. His skin is really sensitive, so they alternate his cuff after each set of vitals, every 3 hours. He has had quite a few heel pricks, so he sure doesn't like you touching his feet! He kicks them the minute you touch them. LOL
Now that the IV is out and there is minimal things hooked up to Emerson, we are able to take Emerson out of the isolette ourselves. Angela showed us how to raise and lower the isolette to our height, raise the top of the isolette, and how to pul the cords out when picking up Emerson. I love that they are teaching us and letting us be so on hands with him. It really does help emotionally!
Grant brought in a little speaker to play music for Emerson. He loaded up his old iphone with our "bedtime" playlist. If you know us, we play music 24 hours at home. Emerson heard that bedtime playlist through the entire pregnancy :) The nurses said they would keep the music on 24/7 for Emerson to :)
No tears today! Today was a good day :)
