Emerson does have jaundice, which is normal for a preemie. He will be under phototherapy for 24 hours. Hopefully his bili count will come down by tomorrow and he can come off photo therapy. If the bili count is low enough, we will be able to hold Emerson for the first time. For today, we just get to hold his little hand and rub his cute peach fuzz head. He looks adorable with his little sunglasses on. :)
The nurses have not started actual feedings yet, he is getting nutrition through the IV. They want him to get a little bit of weight before starting the feedings because the energy could cause him to drop a little weight.
Today Aunt Gloria and Kristin came to visit. They brought me a great care package that consisted of magazines, cider donuts, apple juice...and my favorite thing - BEER! Does my family know me or what? LOL It was great to visit with them, and Emerson responded so well to them! As soon as he heard their sweet voices, his arms and legs started moving, and he even stuck his tongue out. It was adorable :)
I was able to go down and see Emerson a few times today, some of them I even walked down. Walking isnt really painful, but standing and getting up and down is still a challenge. I am feeling a burning sensation on the right side of my incision, so Gloria and Kristin wheeled me down when they were here. But the nurse caught us and encouraged me to walk back. Busted!
Jill and Makenna also came to visit. They brought the cutest little outfits for Emerson! Unfortunately, we didnt know about the nursery rules about children so Makenna only got to see Emerson from the window. :(
Mary was the last visitor for Emerson today. He was popular today! I was feeling pretty exhausted so Grant took her down to get her peek at our cute little boy.
